Rashi phal: the Vedic horoscope, read from your moon sign

The Vedic daily reading, counted from your moon sign. This is the one Indian astrology means by a horoscope.

Your rashi is where the Moon was when you were born, which is not the sun sign a Western horoscope uses. They differ for most people, so check yours before you pick a page.

Every moon sign

Each of these carries daily, weekly, monthly readings, switchable at the top of the page.

Why this is not your sun sign

A Western horoscope is filed under the sign the Sun was in when you were born. The Sun takes about a month to cross a sign, which is why a date is enough to look it up. Rashi phal is filed under the Moon, which crosses a sign every two and a quarter days, so the same birth usually lands in a different sign under the two systems.

That is not a disagreement between traditions, it is two different measurements. Vedic astrology reads gochar, the transit, against the natal Moon because the Moon is the significator of the mind and of how a period is felt. If you only know your Western sign, use the finder on any of the pages above: it returns your janma rashi, your birth star and your rising sign together.

Sade Sati, which is why most people arrive here

Saturn takes about two and a half years to cross a sign, and Sade Sati is the roughly seven and a half year passage while it crosses the sign before your moon sign, your moon sign, and the sign after. Every rashi page above says whether it is running for that sign right now, and which of the three phases it is in.

For your own dates rather than the status, the Sade Sati calculator gives every leg with start and end dates from your birth details.
