Most kundli sites ask for a birth time they assume you already have. Most people do not have it, at least not to the minute. BirthIQ exists to work that missing number out properly, and to tell you honestly how sure it is.

The astrologer behind the AI

BirthIQ is not a piece of software that went looking for an astrologer. It began the other way round. Ms. S. M. Acharjee has practiced Vedic astrology for more than ten years, and in that time she kept running into the same problem. People came to her for a reading and did not know when they were born.

That matters more than most people expect. Move a birth time by five minutes and your navamsa can change sign, grahas can cross house boundaries, and the dates your Vimshottari dasha periods open and close all shift. A chart built on a rounded off hospital time, or on what an aunt remembers, is answering the wrong question. It just answers it very confidently.

Fixing that by hand is slow, patient work, and she wanted more people to be able to get it done. The rules this site runs on are hers: the planetary logic, the scoring, and the rectification method itself. The engineering is one person, working independently rather than as a company with a marketing department, who wrote the code to her method instead of wrapping an existing astrology package. That was the slower route, and it is the reason we can show you the reasoning behind your result line by line.

How your birth time gets found

This is closer to searching than to interpreting, and you can follow every step of it.

• You start from what you actually know. Give the widest window you are sure the birth falls inside. If all you know is "sometime in the afternoon", say that. A full 24 hours is a perfectly good starting point.
• We build a chart for every possible minute. Rather than picking one time and hoping, we cast a full kundli for each birth time inside your window.
• Your own life decides between them. You give us real dated events: a marriage, a job change, a move, a bereavement, a serious accident. Each chart is checked against whether its dasha periods and transits line up with those dates.
• You get a time, and the truth about its width. The result is the most likely birth time, the range around it your events genuinely support, and the reasoning behind both.

Classical Jyotish, modern astronomy

There is no guesswork in the astronomy, and none of it is borrowed from a generic astrology library.

• NASA JPL DE440. The same planetary ephemeris professional astronomers use, so graha positions are exact rather than approximated.
• Lahiri ayanamsa. The Chitra Paksha ayanamsa, the government standard for Vedic calculation in India.
• Vimshottari dasha matching. This is the heart of the rectification. Your life events are cross referenced against the mahadasha, antardasha and pratyantardasha periods of every candidate birth time.
• Divisional charts. We calculate and test across your lagna (D1), navamsa (D9), dasamsa (D10) and shashtiamsa (D60), because the finer vargas are where a few minutes show up most clearly.

The rectification itself is deterministic. There is no language model anywhere in it. The same inputs always produce the same result, and any result can be traced back to the events and rules that produced it.

Why you can trust your result

We would rather tell you something disappointing than something flattering, so here is what we will not do.

• We will not hand you a single stamped minute when your events only support a half hour window. You get the width your evidence actually justifies, and we say so plainly.
• We will not pretend astrological interpretation is settled science. The astronomy is precise. What it is taken to mean is tradition, and we present it as tradition.
• We will not invent testimonials, star ratings or user counts. If you do not see social proof on this site, that is why.
• We will not tell you a result is strong when the evidence is thin. A weak result says so itself, and tells you which kind of event would sharpen it.

One honest exception: the horoscope pages

The daily, weekly and monthly horoscopes on this site work differently, and you should know that. They cover every rashi, lagna and nakshatra, they are written for everyone who shares that sign rather than for you, and they are published automatically. Nobody reads a particular day's reading before it goes up.

What S. M. Acharjee reviews there is the rules those readings are generated from and the wording they are allowed to use. That is why each of those pages tells you its prose is drafted by a model, rather than claiming a person checked it. A reading that is genuinely about you needs your own rectified chart, and that is a different thing entirely.

Your privacy

Astrology needs personal details, so we are careful with them. Your birth details and life events are used to compute your chart and nothing else. They are encrypted where they are stored, we do not sell or rent them, and you can delete your account and everything in it whenever you want. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is kept and for how long.

Why it is free

The rectification and your full kundli cost nothing and need no card. A chart built on a guessed birth time is not worth charging for, and the fix for it should not sit behind a paywall. An optional written reading of your rectified chart is the paid product, if you decide you want one later.
